Lifeguarding
Parks & Recreation

The City's Pools and Spraygrounds are operated by the Parks & Recreation Department. They're a great place to stay cool and beat the summer heat. They're also a great place to find a cool summer job through the City's lifeguard training program.

The Parks and Recreation Department offers annual training for persons wishing to become part of the City's summer lifeguard team. No prior lifeguarding experience is required to sign up for the training, and the training is absolutely FREE.*

Students in the training sessions will learn the necessary skills of water rescue and emergency first aid, including:

This two-day refresher course reviews all skills necessary to complete the lifeguard tests, which are given at the end of the two days. No material is taught over in its entirety, and the class is offered simply to bring previous lifeguards up to par on the latest techniques required to work as a lifeguard for the City of Oklahoma City.

The Crossover Training schedule is:

CO Session #1: March 20 (Sat 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.)
CO Session #2: May 8 (Sat 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.)
