Hello and thank you for your interest in adopting working cats!

We adopt out working cats that are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated against rabies, and have their left ear tipped (this is the international sign for a cat that has been sterilized). These particular cats are working cats because they are more feral, shy, and/or sensitive to over stimulation. OKCAW tries to adopt them out as quickly as possible on a first come first served basis. Occasionally we may be able to temporarily place them on a hold for you to allow you time to drive to our shelter to adopt them. There is sometimes a wait period for people wanting working cats, as we may not currently have any available, or they are waiting for surgical sterilization to be adoptable. In order to get you added to our wait list of working cat homes, please answer these few questions. Once we have this information, we will be able to add you to the list so a staff member can contact you when we have them ready to go!

How many working cats are you looking to adopt? (We typically require cats that came from the same home or colony to be adopted in pairs as this helps them settle into a new environment better and decreases their chances of running off.)

 *
7

Are you okay with taking multiple cats that are not already acquainted with each other?

 *
8

How many crates, carriers, or traps do you have for the transportation of adopted working cats? (We require 1 plastic or metal transport carrier per cat. The only exception is if multiple cats are already housed together.)

 *
9

What kind of shelter setup will you provide the cats? We require a shelter structure (e.g., barn, workshop, warehouse, shed, etc.) and a food and water source to be provided. We recommend keeping working cats enclosed in the shelter or preferably confined to a large dog crate or chicken coop for 2 weeks to allow them to become comfortable in their new home, become comfortable with you, and decrease their chances of running off.
