(July 26, 2006) - The Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department has teamed up with the Oklahoma Wildlife Federation for a free fishing clinic for children August 5 at Springlake, on the Metro Tech Campus.
Children age five to 15 can participate in the fishing clinic. The Oklahoma Wildlife Federation will help teach the children, many of which are expected to be first-time fisherman. The Oklahoma Wildlife Federation is the state affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation, the largest conservation organization in the world.
“It’s wonderful that our City fishing program has been chosen as a service project of OWF,” said Bob Martin, fisheries biologist for The City of Oklahoma City. “These are sportsmen putting something back into angling by teaching these children fishing fun.”
The fishing clinic will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Saturday, August 5. Reservations are required. Call 297-1137. The clinic is free and rods, reels, bait and tackle will be provided. Springlake Metro Tech is located at 1900 Springlake Drive.
