(September 19, 2006) – Members of the City Council met Tuesday to discuss Oklahoma City’s delivery options for emergency medical services (EMS).
Representatives from both the Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) and the Oklahoma City Fire Department made presentations, educating council members on EMS delivery services and options for the future.
The City evaluates EMSA’s ambulance services every five years, prior to contract renewal and is weighing the cost and effectiveness of a Fire Department-based EMS system compared to EMSA’s delivery system.
Further discussion will take place during the October 3 City Council Meeting. A conclusion will be made by October 31. Any decision will be implemented in October 2008.
