(October 30, 2007) - Residents interested in getting information about Oklahoma City’s 2007 Bond Election are invited to attend a community meeting on Tuesday, November 6 at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber on the third floor of City Hall, 200 N Walker.
City staff will explain each of the 11 ballot propositions and answer questions about the election. Attendees will also receive a list of projects slated for improvements.
If passed by voters on December 11, the bond election will provide $835.5 million in long-term funding for the City’s infrastructure without raising the City property tax rate.
The bond program will fund the repair of 750 lane miles of residential and arterial streets, bridge repairs, park improvements, drainage systems, 350 miles of sidewalks and trails, new police and fire stations, new busses, library improvements and economic development incentives.
“Results from the 2007 citizen survey reflected that street repair is on top of citizen’s list of priorities for Oklahoma City. As a result, more than half of the projects are allocated toward street improvements like resurfacing, widening and reconstruction,” said City Manager Jim Couch.
The bond propositions were determined based on feedback from the citizen survey, council strategic priorities, city manager priorities, departmental priorities and impact on the operating budget.
