(January 11, 2008) - Oklahoma City residents have until 5 p.m. on Monday, January 14 to report damage to their meter base caused by the December ice storm.
Damage should be reported to the City’s Action Center at 405 297-2535. After Monday, residents will need to make their own arrangements for repair.
To date, 1,773 meter bases have been restored through the City’s Meter Base Repair Program, which is being coordinated through the Public Works Department.
The program matches licensed electricians with residents so damaged meter bases can be repaired as quickly as possible. The electrical contractors are being paid $500 for each meter base they repair. The City paid for the labor only. OG&E provided the meter boxes.
FEMA is expected to cover 75 percent of the $500. The State of Oklahoma will cover 12.5 percent and the City of Oklahoma City will pay the remaining 12.5 percent.
