Councilman Skip Kelly pleased with turnout at first Ward 7 meeting

(March 5, 2008) - A standing room only crowd of Ward 7 residents gathered to meet and hear from their new councilman last Thursday.  Taking full advantage of their first opportunity to speak with Councilman Kelly, residents from all parts of the ward came to find out where their councilman stood on issues important to them.

“I was very pleased with the turnout,” Councilman Skip Kelly said.  “It shows residents in Ward 7 not only care about what’s going on in their neighborhoods, but in their city as well.”

Residents wanted to know about infrastructure, crime and planned developments in Ward 7, including the proposed casino in northeast Oklahoma City.  City staff was on hand to provide information and answer questions.

“This is just the first of many town hall meetings.  I intend to stay in contact with Ward 7 residents,” Councilman Kelly said.  “I can best serve them when I know their issues and concerns,” he added.

Councilman Ronald Skip Kelly was elected to complete the term of Willa Johnson who was elected County Commissioner.  He took office in January 2008.
