It pays to recycle in ‘Blue Bin Instant Win’ contest

(April 16, 2008) - All Oklahoma City households eligible for Curbside Recycling may begin playing Blue Bin – Instant Win on April 21.  It’s a game in which one resident each week for 12 weeks can win $100 from Waste Management, the City’s contracted waste and recycling collection vendor.

By the end of the week of April 14, residents will receive a brochure.  It explains the contest rules, items accepted for Curbside Recycling and an enrollment card.  To play Blue Bin – Instant Win, complete the enrollment card, add a stamp and drop it in the mail.

Each week, one card will be drawn.  If that person’s acceptable recyclables were set out for collection that week, the resident will win $100.  If the person whose card is drawn did not properly set out a Little Blue that week, the $100 will roll to the next week, giving the next person a chance to win $200.

Instant Win ends the week of July 7.  The sooner residents return enrollment cards, the more chances they will have to win.

Playing Blue Bin – Instant Win will be easy, especially since the City recently added many more items to the list of accepted recyclables.  Citizens will find the list of accepted recyclables in the Blue Bin – Instant Win brochure.  This list also is available at www.okc.gov or by calling 297-2833.

Oklahoma City and Waste Management employees and their immediate family members living in the same household are not eligible to enter and win.
