Input needed to help plan growth and development in Northeast Oklahoma City

(May 12, 2008) - Neighborhood leaders, residents, school representatives and land developers are invited to a community meeting for the Northeast Sector at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 29 at Minnis Lakeview Community Center, 12520 NE 36.  Participation is free and open to the public.

During the meeting, City Planners will present preliminary planning issues identified for the Northeast Sector and solicit input regarding other potential  issues.

Participants can also volunteer to participate on a Plan Team that will develop the policies to be included in the  plan.

The Northeast Sector Plan process is a collaborative effort lead by Oklahoma City’s Planning Department to address suburban growth and acreage development in northeast Oklahoma City over the next 20 years.  Arcadia Lake, the North Canadian River and the I-35 and I-44 interchange are a few of the locations covered in the Northeast Sector Plan.

The Northeast Sector planning area includes 101.6 square miles and is bound by I-235 east to the City limits.  Plans for the Southwest and Southeast Sectors have already been adopted.

More information on the sector and feedback forms can be found at www.okc.gov/planning/nesector.
