Mayor Cornett to announce City’s loss of 500,000 pounds

WHO:
Mick Cornett, Mayor of Oklahoma City; Hal McKnight, Chairman of the Oklahoma City Trails Advisory Committee; Wendi Weaver, co-founder of runHers Women’s Running Club.

WHAT:
Mayor Cornett will announce that the “This City Is Going On A Diet!” initiative has reached its most significant milestone yet, the 500,000-pound mark, halfway to the Mayor’s stated goal of losing one million pounds.  Hal McKnight and Wendi Weaver will talk about the impact of the Oklahoma City trails system on the community’s health.

WHERE:
The southwest end of the South Grand Trail, at the intersection of SW Independence and SW 29th Street, in the western half of Woodson Park (west of I-44).  The street address is 3200 S. Independence Avenue.  Parking will be available in the south parking lot near the baseball diamond just east of Independence.

MAPS 3 includes a new trails segment (known as the Airport Trail) that will begin here and extend the trails system 90 more blocks into the City’s south side, linking Woodson Park to Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) and Earlywine Park.
