The Stockyards City Urban Design District and Stockyards City Transitional District oversees modifications to buildings in Stockyards City, home to the world's largest stocker/feeder cattle market, with an eye toward preserving its historic western flavor while encouraging commercial and retail development.

The committee reviews proposed changes and issues or denies 'Certificates of Approval' based on its findings. Its decisions may be appealed to the Board of Adjustment. Stockyards City requires a seperate design review and approval.
