Join OKC Animal Welfare and other humane groups at Mega Adoption FunFest this weekend

Post Date:05/11/2018 7:30 AM

Adopt a homeless pet into your family from OKC Animal Welfare and other local humane groups at the Mega Adoption FunFest this weekend at State Fair Park.

The event is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Hobbies, Arts & Crafts Building on the fairgrounds, 3001 General Pershing Blvd.

“With all of our homeless pets and others from so many of our local humane groups, this is the perfect weekend to adopt a pet,” said Animal Welfare Superintendent Jon Gary. “Summer is a busy time for animal shelters, and a successful FunFest will help us meet the needs of other homeless pets who will soon come into our care.”

Participating groups include the Bella Foundation, Central Oklahoma Humane Society, Edmond Animal Welfare, Forgotten Treasures, Groovy Paws, Mutt Misfits Animal Rescue, Red Dirt Boxer, Southwest Oklahoma Animal Network (SWOAN), OK Save a Dog and The Underdogs.

Adoption fees vary by group.

“We want to find a home for every homeless pet in our shelter this weekend,” said Animal Welfare Superintendent Jon Gary. “Spring is a busy season for us, and this is the perfect time for people thinking about adopting a pet to save a life.”

All adoptable animals at OKC Animal Welfare are microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, treated for worms and spayed or neutered.

Adoptions are also available at OKC Animal Welfare’s shelter, 2811 SE 29th Street, from noon to 5:30 p.m. daily except holidays.
