City continues open houses for MAPS 4 EMBARK Bus Rapid Transit and Parks projects
MAPS 4 continues a series of public open houses to gather input for MAPS 4 EMBARK BRT and MAPS 4 Neighborhood and Community Parks. The City of Oklahoma City is inviting residents to attend public open houses and share ideas on improvements.

OKC receives grant to reduce fatalities on City streets
Oklahoma City was awarded an $800,000 Action Plan Grant this week from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). This grant, combined with $200,000 in matching funds from the City, will fund the creation of a detailed plan to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries to drivers, transit riders

Human Rights Commission held successful first meeting in 27 years
Oklahoma City’s Human Rights Commission met last week for the first time in 27 years. The City’s previous Human Rights Commission met from 1980 until it was disbanded by the City Council in 1996.

Oklahoma City moves Tuesday trash and recycling service to Saturday, February 4
The City of Oklahoma City is postponing trash and recycling service for Tuesday, January 31 due to road conditions caused by this week’s sleet and ice. Customers who have regular Tuesday trash and recycling service need to set their carts out for collection on Saturday, February 4.

City hosts onsite interviews for select positions Feb. 9
Starting your career with the City just got easier. Applicants can visit the Feb. 9 one-stop-shop hiring event for entry-level and crew supervisor positions. City staff will hold interviews, assist with mandatory drug testing and medical evaluations, and start the background check process downtown.

Western Avenue closes between Main and NW 4th Streets
Beginning today, Jan. 23, a portion of Western Avenue between Main and NW 4th Streets is closed for about five months while crews with the Oklahoma City Utilities Department install a new sewer line in the area.

City pilots beet juice in fight to de-ice bridges
Oklahoma City’s Public Works Department is looking to bring a new product to their snow-fighting arsenal: beet juice. The pilot program will see how the potion performs on select bridges and overpasses this weekend in OKC.

N Independence temporarily closed between NW Expressway and NW 59
North Independence Avenue is temporarily closed between NW Expressway and NW 59th Street because building material is detaching from the Embassy Suites. This is causing dangerous conditions in the area.
