2025 City Council Elections
CANDIDATE: Wards 1, 3, 4, and 7 (4-year terms)
FILING PERIOD: December 2, 3, and 4, 2024
REGULAR GENERAL ELECTION: February 11, 2025
(In the event a candidate is unopposed at the general election {i.e., there is only one candidate running for such office at the general election}, or in the event one candidate receives a majority of all the votes cast at the general election, then said candidate shall be entitled to be sworn into office as provided by the Oklahoma City Charter, Article II, Section 2(b), as amended in 2020).
RUNOFF ELECTION: April 1, 2025, if necessary.
(In the event no candidate receives a majority of all the votes cast at the general election a runoff election will be held between the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes in the general election.)
SALARY: $12,000 annual
QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior to filing a declaration of candidacy, the person filing must meet all the following qualifications:
- Citizen of the United States and of the State of Oklahoma;
- At least twenty-one (21) years of age;
- Must have been a resident of Oklahoma City or an area annexed into Oklahoma City for at least one year; and
- Councilmember - must have been a registered voter at an address within the ward for at least one year immediately preceding the filing of a declaration of candidacy.
PROCEDURES:
To become a candidate, a person qualified to hold the office must:
- Submit a written declaration of candidacy setting forth the candidate’s name as the candidate desires it to appear upon the ballot, address by street number, and the name of the office (City City Councilors for Wards 1, 3, 4, and 7) candidate desires to become a candidate; and
- Submit a cashier’s check or certified check in the amount of $200.00; or in the alternative by a petition supporting the candidate’s filing signed by 500 registered voters eligible to vote for the candidate. The check shall be returned to the candidate immediately if the candidate is unopposed in the General Election, receives more than fifteen percent (15%) of the total votes cast in the Runoff Election, or becomes a candidate in the Runoff Election.
REQUIREMENTS:
Voting in the general and runoff elections for City City Councilors for Wards 1, 3, 4, and 7, with all legally qualified, registered voters of The City of Oklahoma City eligible to vote in said elections.

The Oklahoma County Election Board will provide the “Petition Supporting Candidate for Municipal Office” form. The City of Oklahoma City, City Clerk will provide the Campaign Reporting Manual and Forms to candidates who file for office in December.
