Police Department MenuUnclaimed Items and Property
Backpacks, car bumpers, jewelry, cash and TVs are just a few of the thousands of unclaimed items in the Police Property Management Unit waiting to be reunited with their owners.
People who believe they have unclaimed items can get information about how to recover them by calling (405) 297-1135.
Most of the items end up in the Property Management Unit because they were collected by police during an investigation, stolen property recovered by police or items found by police or residents.
The items are stored in the Police Department’s Property Management Unit for a minimum of three months. After that, the unclaimed objects are either destroyed or sold at auction. Property that could be used as evidence in a crime is normally retained longer.
If one or more people claim an item, either party may request a hearing at district court to determine the rightful owner. Next of kin can also have property transferred to them if the property’s owner is incarcerated or deceased.
The Property Management Unit hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mon. – Fri. The unit is located at 701 West Main St.
