Steve Hill, Chief of Staff

The Chief of Staff is the Mayor’s top aide. Steve Hill has served as Chief of Staff to the Mayor since 2010. He serves as the liaison to several communities, including the minority and faith communities, people with disabilities and others. He serves or has served as a board member on the Oklahoma City Arts Commission, the Oklahoma City Zoo Trust, the Central Oklahoma Parking and Transit Authority, Lake Atoka Reservation Association, the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum Board of Trustees and and is the liaison to the LGBTQ community for the Mayor’s Office. He is a member of the Project for Municipal Innovation at Harvard University, the President’s Council of Advisors for the University of Central Oklahoma and the advisory board of the Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice. Before joining the City of Oklahoma City, Hill worked as an award-winning print and broadcast journalist; Director of Public Relations at two Dallas-based public relations firms; led internal communications efforts for JCPenney’s 200,000 employees; and served as Press Secretary to former Oklahoma Gov. David Walters. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma.

Karen Fox, Executive Assistant

Karen Fox has been Executive Assistant to the Mayor since 2012. She came to the Mayor’s Office from the Schnake Turnbo Frank public relations firm. She previously worked as Executive Assistant to Oklahoma State Insurance Commissioner Kim Holland. Fox is married with two sons. Her hobbies include cooking, exercise and she is a member of the OK City Chorus of Sweet Adelines. She graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree from Southern Nazarene University.

City Government

In the Oklahoma City system of government, the City Manager, Municipal Counselor, City Auditor and municipal judges are the only employees hired by the Mayor and Council. They directly report to the Mayor and Council and all other employees report to them.
