Several rounds of snow and dangerously low temperatures are affecting Oklahoma City and is expected to continue through the week. This is an update on city services and some of our partners for Feb. 15.

Monday trash collection cancelled due to weather
Oklahoma City is postponing trash, recycling and bulky waste collection for Monday, Feb. 15 due to current weather conditions.

Water Service Alert
The freezing temperatures have impacted treatment systems at the Stanley Draper water treatment plant, causing low water pressure or no water service for customers generally east of the Broadway Extension and south of the Oklahoma river.

City-owned lakes, canal and pond surfaces temporarily closed
The City Parks Department and Utilities Department have directed that all City-owned lake, canal and pond surfaces are temporarily closed for public safety reasons, specifically to prevent people and their pets from walking out on them.

Daytime warming center to open in Red Andrews Park
The City of Oklahoma City will open a temporary daytime warming center in Red Andrews Municipal Gym from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12 through Friday, Feb. 19 to help people escape the artic temperatures forecasted in Oklahoma City. The gym is located at 720 NW 8.

Runoffs are April 6 in Oklahoma City Council election for Wards 1 and 3; Todd Stone re-elected in Ward 4
Incumbent Councilperson Todd Stone was re-elected Tuesday to the Oklahoma City Council with a majority victory (64.29%) in Ward 4. Runoffs are April 6 between the top two candidates in Wards 1 and 3.

Storm debris pick-up nearing completion
Crews are on track to finish collecting the second round of storm debris left after the Oct. 2020 ice storms earlier than anticipated. Final storm debris removal pass begins Feb. 1
Oklahoma City residents who still have tree and limb debris from the October 2020 ice storm need to stack it at the curb by Feb. 1, so they are not missed. Crews are on schedule to complete the first pass of debris removal by Jan. 30.

OKC Utilities to resume water disconnections
The Oklahoma City Utilities Department will lift its temporary suspension of water disconnections for non-payment in Feb. 2021. The department temporarily suspended water disconnection for delinquent accounts in Mar. 2020 at the onset of the pandemic.
