OKC Animal Welfare wants 100 dog adoptions during “Sweater Weather” event
Oklahoma City Animal Welfare set a big goal. The Shelter wants to see 100 dogs adopted by 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, to greatly reduce the overcrowding among the dog population.

Portion of South Eastern Avenue closed for water line installation
Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 29, a portion of South Eastern Avenue between Southeast 15th Street and American Indian Boulevard will be closed for about four months while contractors for the Oklahoma City Utilities Department install a new water line in the area.

OKC’s first parking-protected bike lanes under construction in NE OKC
Construction began this week on the City’s first parking-protected bike lane. The lane will be built on Lottie Avenue from NE 13th Street to NE 23rd Street. The parking-protected bike lane is a part of a larger bike lane project that will soon be under construction.

Don’t let fats, oils and grease gobble your holiday plans
The Oklahoma City Utilities Department wants to remind residents to “prevent clogs by tossing your FOG.” This means tossing fats, oils, grease and other bulky food items into the trash, and not down the drain.

“Key to Home Partnership” governing board forms to work together to end and prevent homelessness in OKC
To address homelessness differently in Oklahoma City, a new system of governance called the Key to Home Partnership was launched in April 2023. The Partnership is a public-private partnership of over 40 agencies whose mission is to prevent and end homelessness in Oklahoma City alongside the City.

OKC Street crews ready to treat bridges and overpasses along City snow routes
Strike crews from Oklahoma City’s Public Works Department will report to work at midnight tonight to monitor bridges and overpasses along the City’s snow routes. Six trucks mounted with salt spreaders will treat slick spots if ice begins to form.

Oklahoma City’s October sales and use tax report shows combined General Fund collections were above this month last year and above the combined monthly projection. The General Fund pays for the City’s day-to-day operations. Sales tax is the General Fund’s largest single source of revenue.
