New bike lane opens in NE OKC
A new 3.3-mile bike route is now open in NE Oklahoma City. The lane connects neighborhoods such as Capitol View, Springlake, and Culbertson to resources such as Metro Tech’s Springlake Campus, Homeland grocery store and the MAPS 3 Community Health, Recreation and Wellness Center.

OKC agencies gather to discuss impacts of extreme heat events
The City of Oklahoma City and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) hosted an interagency exercise in August to better understand heat, heat risk and the populations most at risk when a prolonged heat wave occurs in OKC.

OKC awarded $2.2 million to study 15 bridges
The U.S. Department of Transportation announced in August that Oklahoma City will receive $2.2 million in planning grants through the Federal Highway Administration’s Bridge Investment Program.

Ron Bacy selected to lead OKCPD as next police chief
Oklahoma City Manager Craig Freeman announced the selection of Ron C. Bacy as Oklahoma City’s 51st police chief, effective immediately. Bacy has been an Oklahoma City police officer for 32 years and served as one of the Police Department’s five Deputy Chiefs.

Portion of NW 36th Street closed for water main work
Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 15, the westbound lanes of NW 36th Street near Drexel Boulevard will be closed for work on a water main. Traffic will be redirected to an eastbound lane to maintain flow and ensure safety.

Oklahoma City Utilities reminds customers of permanent odd/even watering schedule
Customers whose property address ends in an odd number (1,3,5,7,9) are allowed to use outdoor sprinklers on odd-numbered calendar days. Customers with a property address that ends in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) are allowed to use outdoor sprinklers on even-numbered calendar days.
