Animal Welfare Department MenuSpaying and Neutering
Spaying (for females) and neutering (for males) are surgical procedures that help prevent pet overpopulation by ensuring your pet can't breed.
All adoptable pets at the OKC Animal Shelter have been spayed or neutered. Spaying and neutering also have health and behavior benefits, including lowering cancer risks and reducing the urge to wander, mark territory or fight.
We offer free spay and neuter surgery to OKC residents. Call (405) 313-1469 to make an appointment. You can get more information from our flyers about spay and neuter surgery for dogs (PDF) and cats (PDF).
You can also find other community organizations that provide free or low-cost spay and neuter services in the OKC metro. Organizations that may provide free or low-cost services include:
- Oklahoma Humane Society
- Best Friends of Pets
- Safe Haven
- Animal Wellness Center
- Get Fixed OK
- Spay Oklahoma
- Operation Catnip Stillwater
- Community Cat Coalition of Edmond
