• Research pet care and the right animal for your family. This is a long-term decision.
• Look online for our available adoptable pets. You can also look on Pet Finder.
• Bring your family to the OKC Animal Shelter and interact with the pets available for adoption. Our volunteers and staff will help you through the process.
• When you've chosen the right pet for you, our staff will help you fill out paperwork. Bring a parent or guardian if you're under 18 years old and photo identification with your current address.
• OKC Animal Welfare reserves the right to deny adoptions in order to find the most appropriate home for each pet.

• Dogs and cats are $60.
• Horses are fair market value.
• All other animals are half the market price.
• A special reduced fee of $30 will apply for animals in some circumstances including being in the adoption program for more than two weeks, pets 4 years old and up, two or more pets adopted together, pets adopted during promotional events and pets with certain medical conditions.

Consider giving someone an OKC Animal Welfare pet adoption gift certificate instead of buying or adopting a pet for them. Not only are you helping a homeless local animal find a new family, but also your family member or friend will be able to choose the perfect pet at the right time for them.

Allowing someone to choose their own pet makes the best chance for the perfect fit. A pet adoption gift certificate works the same way as any other OKC Animal Shelter pet adoption, but the costs are already paid.

Pets adopted from the OKC Animal Shelter will come with a tag verifying their rabies vaccination. If you need a replacement tag, you can get one for a $2 replacement fee at the Animal Shelter.

Most animals come to us as strays, so we don't have behavioral history for them and we can't guarantee anything about their behavior. Some animals may need behavioral modification once adopted. See our Behavior and Training section for more information.
