Flushing prescription and over-the-counter drugs can create problems with our sewer treatment system. If you need to dispose of drugs, try these tips instead:

Toss it in the trash:

• Mix medications with an unpalatable material like kitty litter, soil or used coffee grounds.
• Place the mixture in a sealed plastic bag.
• Throw it in your household trash.
• Scratch out all personal information on the prescription label and dispose of it.
