OKC residents have options for Christmas tree disposal
OKC residents can drop off natural Christmas trees for OKC Parks to mulch from Dec. 26 through Jan. 15. They can be dropped off, and mulch can be picked up from dawn until dusk in designated areas at the following parks: Will Rogers Park and Wheeler Park.

Join OKC Parks at the Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center, 909 Fredrick Douglass Blvd., on Dec. 29 at 11:30 a.m. for a Kwanzaa brunch. This event honors community members and observes the African-American cultural holiday of Kwanzaa.

The Christmas holiday weekend schedule for City of OKC services: Christmas Day (Monday, Dec. 25) No trash or recycling pickup. Makeup day Wednesday, Dec. 27. Bulky waste pickup not affected. EMBARK buses on a weekend schedule. RAPID operates a 30-minute service from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Trout fishing, kids' dance lessons are some of OKC Parks’ events happening this weekend
Kick off trout fishing season at Route 66 Park, 9901 NW 23rd St., at noon on Dec. 16. Kids 5 - 15 will get a chance to catch a rainbow trout. All the tackle will be supplied and can be taken home after the derby courtesy of the Police Athletic League.

Hefner Water Treatment Plant set for ozone system upgrade
Beginning Dec. 11, Oklahoma City’s Hefner Water Treatment Plant (WTP) is set to undergo a significant milestone in the $44 million improvement project to modernize its ozone disinfection system and increase treatment capacity.

Kids can learn gymnastics or create holiday wreaths with OKC Parks this week
Children, ages 4-14, can participate in a gymnastics course at Southern Oaks Recreation Center, 6818 S. Walker Ave. This program helps kids develop cognitive skills and strong and healthy bones, increases coordination and improves flexibility.

Portion of South Eastern Avenue closed for water line installation
Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 29, a portion of South Eastern Avenue between Southeast 15th Street and American Indian Boulevard will be closed for about four months while contractors for the Oklahoma City Utilities Department install a new water line in the area.

Don’t let fats, oils and grease gobble your holiday plans
The Oklahoma City Utilities Department wants to remind residents to “prevent clogs by tossing your FOG.” This means tossing fats, oils, grease and other bulky food items into the trash, and not down the drain.

OKC Street crews ready to treat bridges and overpasses along City snow routes
Strike crews from Oklahoma City’s Public Works Department will report to work at midnight tonight to monitor bridges and overpasses along the City’s snow routes. Six trucks mounted with salt spreaders will treat slick spots if ice begins to form.
