Northline Ventures is a small redevelopment company without much experience in managing environmental assessment and remediation. That's why their partnership with the Planning Department's brownfields experts was instrumental in a recent Midtown redevelopment project.

"The expense of these reports could have been a deal breaker," said Northline's Kayla Baker. "The brownfields program helped us mitigate some costs and allowed us to push forward with the project."

The Dwellings @ SOSA, a development of 14 single family homes in Oklahoma City's urban core, is the largest project to date for Northline. The financing bank required the environmental reports because of the size of the project.

Assessments revealed no contamination, allowing Northline to proceed with the project.

Both phases of the development should be complete by 2019. About 70 people have been employed as part of the construction process.
