The Southern Great Plains chapter includes Oklahoma and Renee A. McPherson, director of the South Central Climate Adaptation Science Center, is the chapter lead author and Darrian Bertrand, Climate Assessment Specialist at the Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program, is also an author.

This report was produced by the South Central Climate Adaptation Science Center for the City to provide decision-makers with results from multiple climate models that present a range of possible futures and risk associated with those futures for planning purposes. 

Climate in the Heartland: Historical Data and Future Projections for the Heartland Regional Network  (2015) (PDF)

Oklahoma City was one of five cities to collaborate with state climatologists and climate scientists to model and downscale the effects of climate change to a municipal level. These projected changes, in conjunction with historical climate data, can inform policy decisions to ensure future resilience. The study was funded through the Urban Sustainability Directors Network.
